In the wake of the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria, killing tens of thousands of people, the world came together to support those affected by this natural disaster.
Among the individuals who stepped up to provide much-needed aid and assistance were over 370 members of the Nexo team, who dedicated their time and resources to making a difference in the lives of those impacted by the earthquakes.
It is with great pride that we share our gratitude for their contribution, #TeamAction, hard work, and self-organized grassroots efforts to assist those in need. The fact that they reached out to relevant institutions, organizations, and embassies shows their commitment to making a positive impact, and we are proud to have them as part of our team.
Below we outline the urgent humanitarian items the Nexo team purchased, packed, and shipped directly to Turkey and Syria within two days via air and on-ground transport.
- 50 cold-weather sleeping bags
- 51 tents
- 100 thermal insulation camping mats
- 200 emergency rescue blankets
- 100 flashlights
- 100 headlamps
- 30 LED solar lamps
- 200 packs of batteries
- 100 packs of personal hygiene materials

- 350 packs of baby diapers (more than 35,000 diapers)
- 2,500 jars of baby food and formula

While the last few days have been incredibly emotional for everyone involved, the team's spirit of sincere dedication to the cause and willingness to face even the most challenging situations head-on has been fully displayed. Their efforts inspire us all and remind us of the importance of coming together to support one another in times of crisis.
The following are some of the statements made by people involved with organizing the effort:
“Donating to those in need is essential because it reminds us of the importance of coming together to support one another, no matter where we are in the world.”
“I have learned that whatever you are doing to help others may seem insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.”
Help Is Still Needed
The situation in Turkey and Syria is extraordinary and calls for immediate action. It is crucial to help people in similar situations across the world; even small donations can make a big difference in the lives of those affected by disasters.
While most people and organizations accepting donations have good intentions, please be vigilant when donating, as there is information about scammers channeling funds away from real charities.
Nexo Team in Action
In addition to the Nexo team's recent humanitarian efforts to support those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the team has also been involved in a variety of previous fundraising campaigns.
- Crypto for Ukraine: Nexo clients and team members donated $350,000 to Ukraine's official cryptocurrency addresses, while Nexo's matching contribution of $350,000 supported the efforts of major intergovernmental and regional organizations to provide emergency humanitarian aid, assistance to refugees and internally displaced families, and support for women and children.
- #ColorTheSpectrum: The team played an integral part in raising nearly half a million in crypto to support the autism community by making crypto donations possible and easily accessible together with The Giving Block.
- Bitcoin Core Development: Nexo donated $150,000 to Brink, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting open-source Bitcoin development through funding, education, and mentoring.
- #SavewithCrypto: The team launched the #SavewithCrypto campaign in partnership with Brave Browser and The Giving Block, which raised $27,000 for Save the Children's #SavewithStories initiative, supporting children in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We believe in equal opportunities for all and are proud of our team’s previous fundraising efforts and will continue to find ways to help people, supporting causes that align with our collective values, and making a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
