Nexo vs. CoinSpot: Comparing crypto exchanges in Australia
Sep 04•4 min read

CoinSpot and Nexo both let you buy, sell, and swap crypto in Australia — but that's where the overlap mostly ends. CoinSpot is built around trading. Nexo adds a Credit Line, on top of the same core trading experience. Here's how the two actually compare.
At a glance: CoinSpot covers buying, selling and swapping across a wider asset range (480+ vs. Nexo's 100+); Nexo extends further into borrowing, with a Credit Line running 0.9%–21.9% p.a. depending on tier and LTV — something CoinSpot currently doesn't offer.

Funding your account: both are local, but not identical
Neither platform requires an international transfer to get AUD in. Nexo issues eligible clients a dedicated AUD account number and BSB, funded via two local, bank-to-bank rails — NPP, which most banks brand as Osko and which tends to land near-instantly, and BECS, the older direct-entry system, which typically takes 1–3 business days — both free, alongside card and digital wallet options. CoinSpot funds via PayID, direct deposit, card, PayPal or cash. If you've come across older content suggesting Nexo doesn't support local Australian bank transfers, that's out of date: Nexo Australia clients fund locally, the same way they would with any other Australian platform.
Where the two actually diverge
Borrowing. CoinSpot doesn't offer a lending or credit product. Nexo's Credit Line lets eligible clients draw funds against a wide range of supported assets without selling them — no origination fee, no mandatory monthly repayment, with rates depending on Wealth Club tier and loan-to-value ratio. Borrowing against digital assets carries risk, including margin call and liquidation risk.
Cashback. Nexo offers cashback of up to 0.7% on eligible trades. CoinSpot doesn't currently offer trade cashback.
Loyalty. Nexo's Wealth Club rewards higher balances and activity with better Credit Line rates and cashback up to 0.7%, plus perks that scale with tenure. CoinSpot doesn't have an equivalent program.
Asset range. CoinSpot supports more individual assets than Nexo, so if you're after a long tail of smaller tokens, that's a real point in its favour.
Frequently asked questions
1. Can I borrow against my crypto with CoinSpot?
No, CoinSpot doesn't offer a lending or credit product. Nexo's Credit Line lets eligible clients draw funds against supported assets without selling, regulated under Australia's consumer credit framework.
2. Can I use both platforms at once?
Yes. Some clients hold assets across multiple platforms — for example, using CoinSpot for tokens Nexo doesn't yet support, while using Nexo's Credit Line on the assets it does support.
