How to fund your Nexo account with AUD in Australia

Sep 064 min read

Getting Australian dollars into your Nexo account is the first step to using any of Nexo's products, from the Exchange to Growth to a Credit Line. In Australia, that process looks a little different to other markets, because Nexo Australia gives eligible clients their own dedicated AUD account details for deposits — rather than routing every transfer through a generic overseas account. Here's how it works.

Get your dedicated AUD account details

Once your account is verified, you can view your AUD transfer details in the app. Depending on your registration date and account type, these details are either personal to you (your own account number, no reference code needed) or shared Nexo-held details that require a reference code on every transfer. The screen will show you which applies — check the beneficiary name: if it's yours, the details are personal; if it's Nexo's, they're shared and you'll need the reference code shown alongside them.

To find them:

  1. Open the Nexo app and tap Add funds on your Dashboard.
  2. Select Bank transfers.
  3. Choose AUD as the currency.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions for your transfer details (and reference code, if shown).

Send a bank transfer

With your account details on hand, funding your account is the same as making any other bank transfer:

  1. Log in to your bank's app or online banking.
  2. Add Nexo's AUD details as a payee.
  3. Enter the amount (5 AUD minimum recommended) and the reference code if one applies.
  4. Set the beneficiary name to match your name exactly as shown on the Receive AUD screen, then confirm.

Nexo supports AUD bank transfers via two local rails: NPP — the fast payments network most banks brand as Osko — and BECS, the older direct-entry system. An NPP/Osko transfer between participating banks tends to land near-instantly; a BECS transfer typically takes 1–3 business days.

Either way, it's a same-country payment to a BSB and account number your bank recognises, which avoids the delays and blocks that can come with sending assets overseas to fund a crypto account. Exact timing still depends on your bank and isn't guaranteed by Nexo.

Buy crypto directly with AUD

If you'd rather skip a separate bank transfer altogether, you can buy crypto in your account directly using AUD via a debit or credit card through Nexo's Buy Crypto feature. This converts your AUD into your chosen asset in one step, which is useful if you want to start using Exchange or Growth straight away rather than holding an AUD balance first.

Add crypto instead

You don't need to fund in AUD at all if you'd rather transfer digital assets you already hold from another wallet or exchange. This works the same way as an AUD deposit — go to the relevant asset in your Wallet, select Add funds, and use the deposit address shown.

A note on getting the details right

Double-check your BSB and account number against what's shown in the app before every transfer, particularly if you're setting up a new payee or transferring for the first time. Because these details are unique to your account, an error here — rather than being automatically corrected — can delay your funds reaching your balance.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is there a minimum amount I can transfer?

Minimums can apply and may vary depending on your bank and the transfer method you use. Check the amount shown in the Nexo app before sending a transfer.

2. Can I fund my account from a bank account that isn't in my name?

Nexo generally requires deposits to come from an account held in your own name, consistent with standard anti-money-laundering checks. If you're unsure whether a specific account qualifies, check with Nexo support before transferring.
