Crypto for Ukraine: Nexo’s Fundraising Efforts Raise $700,000

The devastating events unfolding in Ukraine have left millions of Ukrainian civilians in dire need of urgent humanitarian help. The global crypto community has managed to self-organize on an unprecedented scale, raising awareness, engaging people, and extending immediate support to those worst affected by the conflict.

In response to the crisis, the Nexo community has mobilized and raised $700,000 for emergency humanitarian relief.

We at Nexo believe it’s our duty to help relieve the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Ukraine by taking concrete actions in support of refugees – women, children, and families. To that end, in early March we initiated Crypto for Ukraine – a crypto donation campaign – and laid the foundations of the fundraiser with an initial $100,000 commitment. We called on all Nexo customers and employees to contribute by donating crypto to Ukraine’s official Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, and Polkadot cryptocurrency addresses and vowed to match all contributions, up to a total of $500,000.

Over the month since, donations big and small have poured in from every nook and corner of the world. The Nexo community alone donated $350,000 in crypto to Ukraine’s official cryptocurrency addresses. Factoring in Nexo’s initial commitment and matching contribution, the Nexo community has raised and donated a total of $700,000 for emergency humanitarian relief.

Nexo’s matching contribution of $350,000 is split between major intergovernmental and nonprofit organizations helping as many people as possible both in Ukraine and nearby countries. The funds are allocated towards the following:

• Emergency humanitarian aid for Ukraine
• Assistance to refugees and internally displaced families
• Support for women and children in Ukraine and nearby countries

Nexo is working with several regional organizations and refugee groups – Mother Ukraine Community, BG4UA, For Our Children Foundation, Bulgarian Fund for Women, among others. The latter are actively committed to providing critical supplies, safe drinking water, humanitarian, legal and social assistance – including psychosocial support, emergency shelter to people in need, expediting Ukrainians' passage across the border into safety, child protection, and educational resources.

In our upcoming updates on this effort, we will provide a report on all partner activities and we will continue to monitor the situation and further explore all long-term possibilities to extend our support to the Ukrainian nation.
