Nexo Stocks: How to trade U.S. stocks alongside your crypto
Sep 16•7 min read

The short version
Nexo Stocks lets you trade 460+ U.S. stocks and ETFs like Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, and more from the same account as your crypto. Positions are fractional from $10, trading runs 24/5 across pre-market, core, after-hours, and overnight sessions, and cash dividends are credited automatically to your Nexo account. Eligible stocks can also be pledged as collateral for a Nexo Credit Line alongside your crypto. Stocks are available to eligible Nexo clients in supported jurisdictions, including Argentina.
Most crypto platforms treat stocks and digital assets as two separate worlds. If you wanted exposure to both, you needed two accounts, two logins, and two apps to check. Nexo just closed that gap. Stocks and crypto now sit in the same account, with the same funding methods and the same portfolio view.
Here's what it is, how it works, and what to know before you use it.
What are Nexo Stocks?
Nexo Stocks lets eligible clients buy and sell exposure to over 460 U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs — including the so-called "Magnificent Seven" (Apple, Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla) — directly from their Nexo account.
What you get.
When you buy, you receive a fractional position that tracks the price of the underlying stock, held through Nexo's licensed brokerage partner. It moves with the real market price, and cash dividends are passed through to you.
It lives next to your crypto, not apart from it.
There is no separate brokerage account or a second app required. Your stock positions, your crypto holdings, and your Credit Line all sit under one roof — and your stock holdings count toward your total portfolio balance for Loyalty Tier purposes.
How Nexo Stocks actually works
Fractional from $10.
You don't need the full share price to get exposure. Put $10 into a $900 Nvidia position and scale up as you go. The maximum is $250,000 per transaction.
24/5 access — not just extended hours.
Most brokerages that offer "extended hours" mean a few extra hours either side of the regular session. Nexo Stocks runs across pre-market, core, after-hours, and overnight sessions, five days a week. During regular U.S. market hours, you can place an instant order or a limit order. Outside those hours, limit orders only. In practice, a major earnings report doesn't have to wait for the opening bell before you can act on it.
Set your own price.
Limit orders let you name the price you're willing to trade at, in any session. An order stays open across sessions until it executes, you cancel it, or it hits its 90-day expiry. While it's open, the amount needed to fill it is reserved — you can't spend or withdraw that portion in the meantime. Orders can also be filled partially, in which case the executed part lands in your account straight away, and the order stays open for the rest.
Pay with what you already hold.
You can buy using USDx, USDC, USDT, or ARSx. The platform handles the conversion to USD behind the scenes — you just pick what you're paying with.
Dividends are handled for you.
When a company pays a cash dividend, the corresponding amount is credited to your account in USDx, net of any applicable withholding tax. The minimum payout is 0.01 USDx; anything below that isn't credited.
Corporate events are processed automatically.
Splits, mergers, spin-offs, and symbol changes are applied to your position without you doing anything. Before an event is processed, any open limit order on that stock is canceled, and the stock is briefly unavailable to trade. You can place a new order once it reopens.
Live tracking, in one place.
Unrealized gains and losses across both your stocks and your crypto update in real time, and every order shows its status the moment it changes.
Using stocks as collateral for a Credit Line
This is the feature with no real equivalent among crypto platforms: eligible stock positions can be added as collateral to a Nexo Credit Line, combined with any crypto you already hold.
The practical effect is that your stock portfolio doesn't have to sit idle when you need liquidity. Instead of selling and potentially triggering a taxable event* — you can borrow against it the same way you'd borrow against Bitcoin or Ethereum. Each eligible stock carries its own Loan-to-Value ratio, which determines how much you can borrow against that position.

How is this different from CEDEARs?
CEDEARs are peso-denominated certificates that trade on a local exchange during local hours. Nexo Stocks are USD-denominated, cover 460+ names rather than a limited certificate list, trade 24/5 rather than on local exchange hours, start at $10, and sit in the same account as your crypto — where they can also back a Credit Line.
It's worth understanding how stocks and crypto compare more broadly as asset classes too, since the two now sit in the same portfolio view.
Who can use Nexo Stocks, and what's excluded
Nexo Stocks is available to eligible Nexo clients in supported jurisdictions, including Argentina. It isn't available everywhere. Because the list changes, the Nexo app is the authoritative source for whether it's live in your country.
A small number of instruments aren't supported, including leveraged ETFs, options-income ETFs, and select micro-cap stocks. Stocks also can't be withdrawn — positions are closed by selling back to USD or crypto.
If you previously held stock positions through BuenBit, those were migrated automatically when Nexo moved to its current brokerage partner. No action was needed on your part.
How to get started
- Open or log in to your Nexo account.
- Fund it. In Argentina, locally via ARS or USD at the Dólar MEP rate through Banco Industrial. Elsewhere, via USD/EUR/GBP bank transfer. Debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay can be used to fund your account (cards can't be used to buy stocks directly).
- Browse the 460+ supported stocks and ETFs in the app.
- Choose what you're paying with — USDx, USDC, USDT, or ARSx — and place an instant order during regular market hours, or a limit order any time.
- Track your position alongside your crypto, with gains, losses, and order status updated live.
