Frequently asked questions.

What's the difference between the Nexo Credit Line and Kraken Flexline?

The Nexo Credit Line is a revolving line with no maturity date: you draw, repay on your own schedule, and draw again. Flexline is a fixed-term loan with a set maturity, a fixed rate, and an origination fee.

Who is the Nexo Credit Line a good fit for?

The Credit Line is designed for borrowers who want to repay on their own schedule, with no fixed maturity, and who expect to draw more than once without opening a new loan each time. It also suits clients who want USD by bank transfer, plan to adjust collateral over time, or hold enough NEXO Tokens to reach a higher Wealth Club tier for lower rates. Tiers depend on NEXO Token holdings, and the token's price is volatile.

Who is Kraken Flexline designed for?

Flexline is designed for borrowers who want a rate fixed for the life of the loan, and for needs with a known end date, from 2 days to 2 years. In the U.S., it's available to Kraken Pro users with Eligible Contract Participant status. It also suits clients who want a wider set of collateral assets, including fiat currencies, and traders who want borrowed funds available on Kraken.

How do credit rates compare?

Nexo Credit Line rates depend on your Wealth Club tier and LTV. Starting rates range from 12.9% annual interest at the Classic Tier to 0.9% at the Signature Tier, which requires holding 2 million NEXO Tokens, when the LTV is 20% or below. Tiers depend on NEXO Token holdings, and the token's price is volatile. Kraken Flexline's annual interest rates are fixed for the term and range from 7% to 25%, plus a 0.50% origination fee.
Rates on both platforms can change, so check current terms in each app.

Can I repay early?

Yes on both, with different terms. On Flexline you can end a loan early for a fee equal to half of the remaining interest.
On Nexo you can repay partially or in full at any time, with no fixed dates or minimum installments.

What happens if my collateral loses value?

Both products can sell collateral if its value falls far enough. On Nexo, you receive Margin Call notifications as your LTV rises, and if it reaches 83.33%, partial automatic repayments are initiated, selling only the collateral needed to bring it back. On Flexline, if your portfolio falls below margin call levels you receive margin call notices and, if it falls further, your assets can be sold. Flexline also sends a notice 1 day before the loan is due.

What can I use as collateral?

Nexo accepts 30+ digital assets, combinable in one Credit Line, including BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP. Kraken says Flexline accepts 48 crypto assets and 6 fiat currencies.

How does Nexo operate in the U.S.?

Nexo's U.S. offering runs through a partnership with Bakkt, a publicly listed U.S. digital asset platform. Bakkt provides the trading infrastructure behind Nexo's U.S. products, and U.S. client assets are held with Bakkt.

How do I open a Credit Line?

Create a Nexo account and complete identity verification. Then add funds by ACH or wire transfer, or transfer your crypto from another platform. Once your assets arrive, open a Credit Line and choose how you want to receive your funds. Network fees may apply to crypto transfers.
