Where your assets are held

With Bakkt, a publicly listed U.S. company. You take on counterparty and platform risk: if a provider is disrupted or becomes insolvent, you could face delays or lose some or all of your assets.
In Aave smart contracts, with access controlled by your own wallet. You take on smart-contract, oracle, and network risk.

Maximum Nexo rates apply at the Signature tier, which requires holding 2 million NEXO Tokens, with the term shown and interest received in NEXO Tokens. Rates without a Wealth Club tier are Flexible Yield rates, with interest received in the same asset. On BTC, ETH, and XRP, these apply to balances up to $25,000, $100,000, and $50,000, with lower rates above. Aave rates are average supply rates (APR), excluding incentives. Source

What sets Nexo apart from Aave.

Dedicated Client Care, around the clock

Reach Nexo’s Client Care team 24/7, whether you need help with a transfer or getting back into your account. Aave’s Help Center offers guides and a contact form run by Aave Labs, alongside community channels like Discord¹.

Start with USD, not a wallet

Add USD by ACH or wire, opt in to Yield, and start accruing interest once your balance passes $5,000. Supplying directly to the Aave protocol takes crypto, a self-custody wallet, and the network’s token for gas fees².

One account, the full ecosystem

Buy crypto, accrue interest, swap on the Exchange, and borrow against your assets, all from one Nexo account. The Aave protocol focuses on lending and borrowing, so buying crypto and tax reporting happen in separate wallets and apps³.

Rates that rise with your loyalty

Move up a Wealth Club tier to unlock higher interest rates. Tiers depend on how many NEXO Tokens you hold, and the price of the NEXO Token is volatile. With Wealth Club Milestones, you can choose to boost your interest rates even further the longer you stay. Aave offers incentive programs on select pools⁴.

What’s the difference between Nexo and Aave?

Nexo is a company with a fundamentals-first approach, serving clients since 2018. U.S. client assets are held with Bakkt, Nexo’s information security is independently audited to SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standards, and Client Care is available 24/7.

How does interest on Nexo compare to Aave?

Over the seven days to October 23, 2026, Flexible Yield rates at Nexo without a Wealth Club tier were 1.2% on BTC, 2% on ETH, and 5% on USDC per year. Over the same period, Aave’s Ethereum Core market averaged 3.97% on USDC, 1.31% on ETH, and under 0.01% on wrapped BTC.

How do I get started with Nexo compared to Aave?

With Nexo, you sign up, verify your identity, and add USD by ACH or wire. You then opt in to Yield, and interest starts accruing once your balance passes $5,000. With the Aave protocol, you need crypto bought elsewhere, a self-custody wallet, and the network’s token to cover gas fees before you can supply assets.

Can I access my assets at any time?

With Flexible Yield, you can withdraw your digital assets anytime, subject to terms and market or operational conditions. On Aave, withdrawals depend on each pool’s available liquidity. After the rsETH exploit on April 18, 2026, Aave’s ETH pool stayed above 99% utilization for about 13 days, which limited withdrawals until early May.

Can I lose funds with Nexo or Aave?

Yes. Digital asset prices can fall on either platform, and interest rates can change and are not guaranteed. With Nexo, your assets are held with Bakkt, and you take on counterparty and platform risk. If you receive interest in NEXO Tokens, the token’s price can fall. Digital asset accounts are not bank accounts and are not FDIC or SIPC insured. With Aave, your funds sit in smart contracts, and you bear smart-contract, oracle, and liquidity risk directly.

How does Nexo operate in the U.S.?

Nexo’s U.S. offering runs through a partnership with Bakkt, a publicly listed U.S. digital asset platform. Bakkt provides the trading infrastructure behind Nexo’s U.S. products, and U.S. client assets are held with Bakkt.

How do I switch from Aave to Nexo?

Create a Nexo account and complete identity verification. Then withdraw your assets from Aave, repaying any open loan first, and send them from your wallet to your Nexo account on a supported blockchain network.
Once your balance passes $5,000, opt in to Yield to start accruing interest. Network fees apply, and wrapped tokens like WBTC may need converting first.

Does Aave have customer support?

Aave’s Help Center has guides and a contact form run by Aave Labs, and community help is available on Discord. The Aave App, in early access, has its own support channels.
Nexo’s Client Care team is available 24/7 for every client.
